Cuauhtémoc also known as Cuauhtemotzín, Guatimozín or Guatémoc; c. 1495) was the Aztec ruler (tlatoani) of Tenochtitlan from 1520 to 1521, making him the last Aztec Emperor. The name Cuauhtémoc means “Descending Eagle" or "one who has descended like an eagle".
This portrait was inspired by a statue of Cuauhtémoc located in Veracruz, Mexico.

Started with the line art.
Added some shading and detail.
Blocked in some color.
Added background color.
Added highlights.
I added a cloud layer using the Live Watercolor brush. The work on the rest of the layers was done with the Vector Basic Taper brush.
